Your First Chastity Cage: How to Measure and Choose a Size

Choosing your first chastity cage can feel daunting. Get the size right and a cage can be comfortable enough to forget about. Get it wrong and it will pinch, rub or slip off. The good news is that measuring is simple, and a few sensible habits make the whole experience safer and more enjoyable.

How a chastity cage fits

Most cages have two main parts: a base ring that sits behind the testicles and around the base of the penis, and a cage or tube that encloses the penis. The two parts are held together by a lock or fastening. Because both parts need to fit well, you will need two measurements: one for the ring and one for the cage.

Measuring for the base ring

The ring does most of the work in keeping a cage in place, so it matters most.

1. Measure when you are fully soft, ideally after a warm shower when everything is relaxed.
2. Take a soft tape measure, or a piece of string you can measure against a ruler afterwards.
3. Wrap it around the base of the penis and behind the testicles, where the ring will sit.
4. Note the circumference. Most makers list ring sizes by diameter, so divide your circumference by 3.14 to convert it.

Choosing cage length

Measure the length of your penis when fully soft, from the base to the tip. For a first cage, choose one that is about the same length or slightly longer. A cage that is too short can press uncomfortably on the tip, while one that is much too long can allow movement and rubbing. Many experienced wearers move to shorter cages over time, but that is something to build up to, not start with.

Materials: silicone, plastic or steel

• Silicone is soft and flexible, which makes it forgiving and comfortable for beginners. It is lighter to wear and quieter under clothing.
• Plastic cages are rigid but lightweight. They hold their shape well and are often a good middle ground for longer wear.
• Steel is heavier, very durable and easy to clean. The weight is part of the appeal for some wearers, but it can take more getting used to, so it is often a second cage rather than a first.

Building up wear time

Take it slowly. Start with an hour or two while you are awake and at home, so you can check how it feels and remove it easily. If that goes well, extend the time gradually over days and weeks. Do not wear a cage overnight until you are confident it fits well during the day, as it is harder to notice discomfort while you are asleep and erections during sleep can put extra pressure on the fit.

Hygiene

• Remove and clean the cage regularly with warm water and mild, unscented soap, or a toy cleaner.
• Wash and dry the skin underneath at the same time, and let it breathe before refitting.
• Dry both the cage and yourself thoroughly, as trapped moisture can cause irritation.
• A little water-based lube can help the ring go on smoothly and reduce rubbing.

Safety first

A chastity cage should never hurt. Remove it straight away if you notice any of the following:

• Numbness, tingling or coldness.
• Pain, pinching or persistent discomfort.
• Discolouration, such as the skin turning blue, purple or very pale.
• Swelling, chafing or broken skin.

Always keep a way to get the cage off quickly.
